UPCOMING SIGN-UPS:
TEE BALL:  Saturday May 28th & June 4th, 2011. Sign Ups will be held from 9:00-12:00 noon at the WCRC offices located in the Parkersburg City Park.
TENNIS:  Saturday May 28th & June 4th, 2011. Sign Ups will be held from 9:00-12:00 noon at the WCRC offices.
COLT/PONY BASEBALL:  For Pony info, please contact us at 304-424-7311 x201.  Colt registrations are currently being accepted.  Please stop by during regular office hours (8:00-4:00).
SUMMER PLAYGROUND PROGRAM:  June 20th through July 29th, 2011. Register your child at the site of your choice during regular program hours.  Pre-registrations will not be held.  2011 site locations:  Lubeck, Fairplains, Waverly, City Park, Friendship Park, and Williamstown.  Possible new location in 2011: Boaz.

Elementary Track Information
Elementary Track season is upon us!  Track events will begin in April and run through May.  WCRC hosts 6 Elementary meets, including the District 5 and Hershey Qualifier.  Final dates have been given to your schools and coaches, and are available on our website as well.  We are looking forward to another exciting track season!

2011 City Time Mini Golf
WCRC is once again managing Parkersburg City Park's miniature golf facility, as we did in 2010, providing everyone a quality family mini golf experience.  Our operating season begins May 27, and we will run through September 4, 2011.  Weather permitting, our hours of operation will be Monday - Saturday Noon - 9 pm, and Sunday 1 pm - 6 pm.  We will also be available for end-of-school-year field trips, birthday parties, etc., prior to our official opening date/times.  We are very flexible.  If you are interested in renting the facility, please don't hesitate to contact us at 304-424-7311.


WCRC Mission Statement
The Wood County Recreation Commission was established on September 17, 1945 as a joint effort by the City of Parkersburg, City of Vienna, Wood County, and Wood County Board of Education.  With one common goal in mind: to provide quality, affordable recreational opportunities for the residents of Wood County and surrounding areas.  Today we strive to continue this tradition by providing the most affordable, quality sports programs for the youth of our community.

31st Annual Parkersburg Fishing Derby
will be held at Parkersburg City Park and Southwood Park on April 16, 2011.
NO FISHING permitted April 14 - April 16... limited fising from April 16 - 23 to children, handicapped, and senior citizens ONLY.

Fishing Times
Ages 3-6         9:00 a.m. - Noon
Ages 7-10       9:15 a.m. - Noon
Ages 11-14     9:30 a.m. - Noon

Rules  

  • No Fishing Lures
  • No Fishing from Piers
  • One Pole Per Fisherman
  • No Net Fishing
  • 4 Fish Per Fisherman
  • You may assist the fisherman, however, only the ages specified are permitted to fish.
  • Decision of Judges Final

(Proof of age may be required of winners)

  • No Fishing from April 14th- April 16th, 2011
  • Fishing will be restricted from 1:00 p.m. on April 16 through April 23 to children ages 3-14, Senior Citizens, and Handicapped.
  • Open Fishing on April 24, 2011.
  • State & Federal regulations in effect, including necessary license and stamp.

Prizes will be awarded in each age group in 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. Prizes also awarded for Grand Champion, Largest Non-Trout and Smallest Fish.

Golden Trout (1 in each pond) winner will received $100.00, donated in Memory of Al Smith.  All Fish must be caught during the derby in order to claim prize.
