What's Happening Now!

Purpose: to create a bright, festive atmosphere in the Parkersburg Community Parks during the winter festival season in order to encourage pride, promote tourism and community involvement.
Organized and run by volunteers.  Completely funded by donations/contributions collected from visitors during the holiday season.

The Holiday in the Park Committee are very pleased and overwhelmed by the response we have for our annual coloring contest, in which we ask the kids to suggest displays they would like to see us build for the following year.  What fantastic idea's these young ones have, which make our job difficult in selecting the displays.  This year,  instead of the Committee selecting the displays from the recommendations, we are asking the kids to actually draw us a display.  We will choose 3 displays, 1 per grade group category and will build the displays based on the child (s) drawing (s).  Rules are listed below.

A great opportunity for the young artist in our community.  3 displays will be chosen (one per each grade group).  A sign with the child's name, grade, age and school will identify the display.  Deadline for entries is April 30th, 2016.

  • Must be a Christmas Theme
  • Must be drawn by the child
  • Must be drawn on an 8 x 11 sheet of paper
  • On back side of drawing, please list (legibly printed) Childs Nam, grade, school, phone number, address.
  • Judging will be based on grade
  • Can be done black/white or color.
  • Holiday in the Park Committee reserves the right to dis-allow any entrant that appears to have adult help
  • Must be received by April 30th to be eligible (no late entries will be accepted)
